Writing

I’ve written the first draft of my first novel, which clocks in at about 60,000 words.  That’s about 10-20K words short of a salable novel for a rookie, but during revisions I plan to add another plot line that came into existence about halfway through my first draft, which should fill the novel out nicely.

The genres I like to write in are science fiction and fantasy.

My first story is a blending of the two–space fantasy, and it is an adventure I’ve tentatively titled Vergence, and it will likely be a duology.  This is the story that is constantly chattering at me wanting to get out of my mind.  So while writing a duology is probably not the best idea with which to write one’s first and second novels, it is the story I’ve been dying to tell for years, and I cannot write another story until this one is told.

Goals
My goal is to become a successful full-time novelist within fifteen years and published (or commercially publishing) in seven.  I have a rough timeline, planning to write in my free time until I’ve gotten a backlog built up of three novels.  This should take perhaps two to three years.  At this time I’ll start podcasting these novels and promoting them and querying for agents.  In the meantime I’ll be blogging about my experiences on this page. However, plans can always change, and like any good writer’s outline, I intend to diverge from it when I spot a good opportunity to do so. :)

Current Projects
Vergence Book 1: The Last Rebellion (Tentatively titled)
Eitan had no prospects for the future until he Awakened.  Now Eitan finds he is part of a long line of warriors who can transport themselves just a few seconds backward in time and can sense others who can do the same.  But this powerful new ability has earned him a deadly new enemy, and he must flee across the known galaxy with his family and friends to escape the clutches of the evil Lord Diamal, the feared demon-king that rules the kingdom of Valen with an iron fist.

Why does Eitan’s time shifting ability threaten Diamal so much that he would hunt Eitan down, and can Eitan survive long enough to find help?  Or will he have to take matters into his own hands, forced against his will to become a hero and free the kingdom of Valen—if only to save himself?

Vergence Book 2: Storm Herald (Tentatively titled)
