I just saw this on my Twitter stream.  J. Daniel Sawyer and Allen Sale of Astral Audio are forming an industry association (the term I like to use would be ‘guild’) for new media creators.  You can view the details at this post on Mr. Sawyer’s website.  I just wanted to drop a note that I will be watching this very closely since it could potentially help my writing and voice acting careers.

Writers, voice actors, and new media creators, take note.

Hmmm … that's a really interesting post. I'm not really big into the whole podcasting/audio-drama thing, but it's definitely worth looking into. I wonder why it's never occurred to me to pursue down that avenue as a possible means of publishing my writing.

How hard do you think it would be to break into that industry as a writer? Perhaps you and I could pool our collective skills together and make a splash :O

A lot of new writers put their books in serialized audio format on podiobooks.com, including one of my friends. This association is primarily for podcasters at the moment, but writers can be podcasters too, and they implied that they would be expanding to any new media creators out there, which does include writers, imho.

“How hard do you think it would be to break into that industry as a writer?”
Which industry are you talking about?

Sorry, I should've been clear. I mean a writer as in a writer for audio dramas and stuff like the project you're currently in. I.e. writing scripts. How hard would it be to be not necessarily make money, but just to make a name for oneself in the industry of podcasting (in an audio drama format).

Well, if you want to do it right, listen to this two-part interview with Scott Sigler and adapt his method to what you want to do.
